Internet Banking
  • NEVER access BBK Internet Banking through a link in an e-mail.
  • NEVER access your account from public places, such as Internet Cafes.
  • NEVER access BBK Internet Banking through a link in an e-mail.
  • Ensure that your browser is up-to-date and has the latest security patches applied.
  • Always install the latest operating system patches and Service Packs.
  • Always use anti-virus software: McAfee, Symantec Norton Antivirus, Sophos, TrendMicro or AVG.
  • Consider using personal firewall software on your PC. The common commercial personal firewall software: Zone Alarm, Symantec – Norton Personal Firewall or McAfee.
  • Use Anti-Spyware software that can detect and eliminate spyware from your PC: Lavasoft’s Ad-aware or PepiMK’s Spybot Search and Destroy.
  • Enable Dual Factor Authentication to reduce incidences of online fraud by adding an extra layer of protection.
Mobile Banking
  • Keep your mobile device updated with the latest operating system to help protect your device against new vulnerabilities.
  • Install mobile security software from the app store on your device to protect you against malicious software and viruses.
  • Secure your mobile phone with a password to prevent unauthorised access.
  • Keep your personal information, including your account number and ePIN confidential.
  • Log out every time.
  • Do not save any financial or personal info on your mobile phone, including your ePIN.
  • Disable the “auto-fill” feature from your Smartphone to prevent storing access details.
  • Beware of third-party apps that claim to organise your passwords. These are basically phishing scams designed to steal your information and send it to fraudsters. Only access your accounts through the official BBK website or the Mobile Banking
  • If you lose your mobile phone and are worried about your access details being compromised, log on to your account from another device and reset your ePIN or contact the Bank by calling +97317207777.
 SMS Banking
  • Nominate one primary mobile phone number for the SMS Banking. Pull and Push messages to the registered number only.
  • Do not respond and provide account or security details to a request supposedly received from BBK.
  • If you receive an SMS message requesting you to call a number other than +97317207777,do not respond.
  • If the promotions include offers, please contact BBK on +97317207777 to verify.
  • It is recommended to setup your own short name for accounts and cards through “My Profile” for privacy.
  • Do not disclose your SIM Card PIN Code or BBK SMS short names to any third party.
  • Always check the sender of SMS.
  • Clear all financial and from your mobile frequently to avoid misuse.
  • Do not disclose personal information via SMS.
  • Install security software on your device to protect against malicious software & viruses.
  • Do not ‘jailbreak’ your smartphone, as this makes it vulnerable to malware.
  • When possible, use a safe and secure network by ensuring that all Internet connections are password protected.
  • Always download mobile apps from reputable sources only.
  • Do not store your passwords on your smartphone within the body of text messages or as phone numbers.
  • Use Wi-Fi™ hot spots that are reputable and password protected only. If you connect to a shared Wi-Fi™ hotspot, you are completely dependent on the security of the host network. If the network is unsecured, it is open to high risk of fraudulent transactions.
  • If you sell or discard your phone, ensure deleting all SMS, e-mails, contact details, etc.
ATM and Cash Deposit Machines (CDMs)
  • Be especially cautious when strangers offer to help you at an ATM/CDM.
  • Use ATM/CDM familiar locations so any changes will be more apparent; for example, a false attachment on the front of the machine.
  • Ensure that other individuals at the ATM/CDM queue keep an acceptable distance from you.
  • Shield the ATM/CDM keypad with your hand when keying in your PIN. 
  • If you feel the ATM is not working normally, press the Cancel key, withdraw your card, proceed to another ATM.
  • Keep ATM receipts to compare it with your monthly statement.
  • If your card gets jammed, retained, or lost, report this immediately to the bank.
  • Carefully secure your card and cash before leaving the ATM.
  • Memorize your PIN.
  • Use unique PIN and never use numbers like your date of birth, or the last four digits of your phone number. Change your PIN periodically.
  • Only use approved ATMs or banks to make cash withdrawal transactions.
  • NEVER disclose your PIN to anyone, whether to a family member, bank staff or police.
